Punk 57

Ryen and Misha have Ibeen pen pals ever since fifth grade, however they neither met, nor know what the other one looks like. When Misha comes to Ryen’s town they finally meet, but Ryen does not know that the guy who suddently appeared at her school is her best friend of several years.

Despite seeming to hate eachother at first, they feel drawn to eachother, but with Ryen still not knowing who „Mason“ really is and a lot of unanswered questions hovering between them, their connecting is fragile and threathened to disintegrate.

When the truth comes out, Ryen feels betrayed and is deeply hurt, she does not want to give up on what she and Misha had though. But in order for their connection to last, Misha has so come clear, at last.

Let me say one think: I really wanted to like this book! I saw so many recommendations online, that, despite not being quite convinced by the description, I ended up buying the book.

It was not awful and definately had good passages, but the trope is just not for me. I liked their relationship at the very end of the book, but for the biggest part there was just too much fighting and playing with eachothers feelings. I am not even quite sure were that hatred came from in the first place.

I’m not even sure if i liked the characters. Ryen seems to be kinda symathic, but she’s acting all fake and nothing like herself at school and Misha is… I don’t know… I think I don’t like him. He was just not my type like at all and he acted like a dick, sorry not sorry.

To sum it up: I really don’t think that this book is worth the hype, but it’s not totally bad either, so if you like that „best friend- to enemies – to lovers“ trope, you might like it.
