This book was part of my tbr list for sooo long! Ever since I read „The Hate U Give“ and soon after saw Angie Thomas recommending „Dear Martin“ I could not wait to read it! Well… it’s been like four years now and finally I got to read it!
First of all: I really liked the book! I liked reading it, I liked how it is written, I liked how it addressed such an important issue. But it was also hard to read at times. I knew what as coming, but still it caught me so off-guard that I was lying there sobbing while pressing the book to my chest.
I think that books like this one are really important because many of us white people do not even realise how piveleged we are. It’s a great way to understand what having to face racism every single day is like, because it is a weight we are lucky enough not to have on our own shoulders.
