The Love Hypothesis

When Olive kisses Adam, she is doing it to convince her best freind that she is over her ex, she and Adam have never spoken before.

To convince Ann even further and to get Adam his research fonds back they start fake-dating. The more time they spent together, Olive learns that there is more on Adam than the grumpy professor, the other PhD candidates know him as.

She starts to develope feelings for the reserved man, but clearly Adam does not feel the same way, right? There is another woman that he has fancied for years and due to a stupid lie he thinks that Olive still has feelings for her ex.

When at a conference one of Adams friends harasses Olive, he is furious and suddenly the borders between dating and fake-dating are not as clear anymore.

It took me ages to finish „The Love Hypothesis“ and to this day I am still not sure wether that is due to a readers block or if it is about the book.

The chapters are quite long which annoyed be a bit to be honest… This way i was only able to continue reading the book when I had a longer period of free time, reading for just like 10 to 15 minutes does not really make sense.

I think in genereal I liked the book, Olive’s and Adam’s lovestory is kind of really cute and I started fangirling every now and then, but I do not quite get the hype. The book is good, but not outstanding.

What I liked is that it adressed the issue of being a woman in STEM and the financial problems PhD candidates have to deal with.
