When reading books about one of the world wars, I’m always having a hard time getting the fact that even though it is fiction, stories so similar to these actually did happen, into my head. It is even harder with books like this one that are based on a true story.

Part of me doesn’t want to think about what happened back then. But it is not just history, for millions of people it was reality, it was their life. Lale’s story is very heavy and emotinal, gives an insight into what it was like being held as a prisoner at one of the Nazi’s work camps.
