The Housemaid

Millie is fresh out of prison, when she lands a job as a housekeeper for the Winchester family.
The offer seems to good to be true. The money they offer is far more than she expected and it is a live-in job too, which means, that she will finally be able to move out of her car.
Soon after starting to work for the family though, she realizes, that her new boss, Nina Winchester is not always as nice as she seemed at the job interview and indeed treats Millie very badly, yelling at her all the time.
Due to her record, Millie has no chance but to stay with the family and endure her bosses weird behavior.
There is another problem though… Millie is falling for her bosses husband. And he does not seem to be uninterested either. And when Nina is out of town for a weekend, things take their course…
Too late Millie realizes how much of a mistake she made, but it might be too late.

I enjoyed reading the book, I really did, but the description is sooo misleading! I only read it for the first time after I was like halfway into the book and to be honest I was totally confused.
The book is not what I expected (even not having read the description) and it wasn’t exactly thrilling in the way that I thought it would be, but I did like reading it.
I liked the plot twist in particular. Before that point, the book was kind of boring in a way?? Not boring boring, but I just didn’t know what to do with it. After the plot twist about halfway into the book, the first half made more sense.
I’m not 100% sure yet, if I want to read the second and third book of the series yet (luckily I did not buy them in advance).
And to be honest I’m about undecided about the rating I’m giving this book… I gave it 4 Stars on Goodreads, but thinking about it now, two weeks later, I think I’ll go with 3 Stars.
It was an easy read for my trip to London, but it did not live up to my expectations at all and I didn’t love it.
